Holiday Knitting - New Kits and Yarns

I hope your holiday is filled with happiness in spite of all that 2020 brought us.

If you are looking to settle down with your knitting and a nice cup of tea, hot chocolate, or hot toddy, below are projects and yarns that have recently been added to the Wasatch and Wool Yarns' website.

Shown above are Sequences Hat by Lori Versaci and Bramwell by Dee O'Keefe.

Project ideas using Kelbourne Woolens Scout

Scout from Kelbourne Woolens is a strong, versatile, heathered DK wool yarn. It is unfussy, beautiful, high-quality, and comes in a gorgeous color palette. Designed for classic knitting and crochet, this yarn excels in pullovers, cardigans, hats, scarves, and mittens.

100% wool 2ply heathered 274 yards / 100-gram skein 20-22 stitches = 4” (10 cm) US 5-7 (3.75-4.5 mm) needle

Bousta Beanie Kit - pattern by Gudrun Johnston

Originally designed for Shetland Wool Week 2017 by Gudrun Johnston, Bousta Beanie is a slouchy style hat that can be pulled down to cover your ears when it’s cold and windy outside. Gudrun was inspired by the myriad shades of color that can be seen in Shetland: the blues of the sea; the mossy greens and browns of the hillside, and the bright pops of wildflowers and heather in the summer.

Paired with Neighborhood Fiber Co's Capital Luxury Sport, the hat retains its Shetland Wool history but now becomes buttery soft. Capital Luxury Sport is a blend of 70% Merino, 20% Cashmere and 10% Nylon. According to Neighborhood Fibers, Capital Luxury Sport is "gorgeously warm, wonderfully vibrant and gloriously smooth as it glides through your hands." The kits can be purchased here. If you would like other yarn suggestion, we have Felted Tweed from Rowan, Andorra from Kelbourne Woolens, and Cheeky Merino Joy from Rosy Green Wool that would also be beautiful for this hat.

Enjoy the luxury of knitting or crocheting with 100% Cashmere.

The hats shown above are Avery Hat by Lidia Karabinech and Cable Cashmere Hat by Lisa Hoffman knit and designed in String@ Classica - a worsted weight 100% Cashmere yarn. Both use two skeins of Classica.

Super-soft Classica is perfect for all your special projects, especially pullovers, vests, winter accessories and heirloom baby garments and blankets. Made in Italy. Classica can be purchased here.

Appalachian Baby Christmas Stocking Kit

Whether it is hung in a mountain cabin or a high-rise downtown, these Christmas stockings will brighten up the holidays for years to come.

Though it would be difficult finishing a stocking in time for Christmas 2020, this is the perfect time to start working on Christmas 2021. These kits contain the pattern, 100% US wool yarn, and a hang tag for recording the date, knitter's name as well as the recipient's name.

The stockings can be purchased here.

It would be a pleasure helping you find a project for yourself or a gift for someone who could use a bit of calm.
